The store was closed, but you could still get stuff if you needed it just through the service window they had set up to check people in. I had an RV so I did not use the bathroom facilities so I can't say what condition they are in, but I did see a lot of folks headed back and forth there throughout the day from the loop that has the screened in shelters. The Bosque County Sheriffs did make a few rounds through the park, I believe they were looking for large gatherings more than anything else. The RV loop is fairly small but that kept things very quiet, you didn't feel at all intruded on by anybody. Meridian State Park is a state park in Bosque County, Texas, United States. My wife, dog, and I did just that and we encountered several small families along the way, everyone stepping aside or passing by with a comfortable social distancing space away. It's a total of about 6 miles of trails, and you can easily do them all in a day if the weather is nice and you are adventurous. The trails are well maintained and very clearly marked, so it's easy to accomplish the goal of hiking every trail they have. This park is open during the COVID-19 pandemic so far, but you can tell they are limiting how many RV sites can be taken up as well as day-use passes that are issued.
#Meridian state park full
The bluebonnets and Indian paintbrushes were in full bloom, this is a great place to get those types of pictures if you are into that. This park is small and quiet, but a great place to get out for the weekend and enjoy beautiful night skys and well maintained trails. Take your pet to a shelter if you no longer want/can keep them. There are so many cats and kittens left here and it's heartbreaking. We only wish we lived closer so we could go more often! Definitely recommend a visit.Ī short side note: Please don't abandon pets here. The trails are very well marked and maintained and again, the staff here was top-notch. The Bosque Trail was our favorite and we were lucky enough to see a barred owl! It was beautiful and an amazing sight. We hiked all of the trails and absolutely loved them. Luckily for us, the staff AND park were incredible. How amazing! The park could have been garbage and that right there would have warranted a 5-star review. She updated us a few weeks later saying the kitten was doing well and she was taking her down to a shelter to get her a forever home. She was so concerned and helpful about the sweet kitty and took the time to go down and catch her in the next day or so. After breaking camp and giving her lots of tuna, we went to the front desk and spoke with a woman named Dianne. We fed her tuna from our kit and she wolfed it down. When we got back to break down camp, a sweet little kitten came out of the woods and over to us. We had a great night and in the morning we hiked the trail right next to our campsite. We had such an amazing visit! We arrived late in the evening after dark and found our campsite details in an envelope with our name on it on the board outside headquarters.
